The following article gives detailed instructions on installing an auxiliary input port into a BMW E60/E61 5 series vehicle. Even though we used a 2005 530i to perform this repair, this article can be applied to any BMW vehicle with an iDrive display that does not have an auxiliary input port (including the E63/64 6 series and E9x 3 series) with minor modifications.
When iDrive is not working properly, however, it can be a real complex and expensive headache to fix. If the BMW iDrive is not turning on, updating the iDrive software, replacing a fuse or rebooting the iDrive system may resolve the problem. Figure out the CODE. Add the last five digits of your VIN [1]. This is the CODE that you will need to enter later to unlock your BMW hidden menu. Example: If your BMW VIN is XXXXXXXX22327, the CODE will be 16. (2+2+3+2+7=16 ) Please turn on the key to position I (ACC). If your BMW has a Start/Stop button, press it twice without pressing the
radio and i drive not working in e60 5 series!!!!!!!!!!! The I drive system and radio/cd player started flashing on and off and then just cut out completely, will not even turn on now, what could this be, any 1 know where the fuse is for it or is it a bigger problem, advice wanted, thanks.
The next step is to reset the TPM warning. Inflate the tires to the recommended tire pressure. Typically, 36 PSI. Press the iDrive knob to select vehicle settings. Scroll down to Vehicle Tires using the iDrive knob. Rotate the iDrive knob to select the TPM menu. Select Reset, then press the iDrive knob. Select YES.
Thunder Dump. You need to try and reboot the iDrive system. If you have an '08, with the car running press and hold the radio volume/mute button, and simultaneous press both the CD eject button and the DVD eject button (you should be pressing all three together at one point) and it should reboot. This does not apply/work on an e60 with NAV and HUD. With NAV and HUD, when you press down on, and release the idrive for 1, 3, 6, 13, 57, or any seconds, to the idrive user menu comes up as it is designed to, containing these various vehicle settings: -Display Off -Entertainment Settings -Display Settings -Vehicle Settings -Service After 3 months, I finally finished the CIC retrofit in my E60 M5 (yes, 3 months…). Everything is finally working great! It is a huge improvement over the old CCC unit, which I hated. It’s pretty sad that it took 3 months considering the install is fairly easy and only takes 30-60 minutes (unless you retrofit the new style iDrive controller). kDux.
